About Us

BREAKAWAY from the everyday!

BREAKAWAY, Inc. was founded in 2001 to provide a safe and effective learning environment for health and fitness to all types of people. Whether you are a beginner or a self-motivated individual, a senior or a teenager, BREAKAWAY, Inc. wanted to provide you with the tools needed for a successful exercise prescription. BREAKAWAY, Inc. has always wanted to effectively motivate and promote healthy lifestyles to all in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Through our goals over the years, we have proved to have the best customer service in town.
The founders of BREAKAWAY, Inc. have always wanted to apply this mission to a strength and conditioning facility to all types of athletes. In 2009 BREAKAWAY expanded and started offering strength and conditioning for athletes and corporate fitness programs. This is where any athlete can work on the tools needed for strength and conditioning. We believe in Olympic Lifting, periodization, working on power, speed and how to do things correctly and efficiently.
Ten years later in 2019 they combined both facilities into a 7000 sq. foot facility to cater to all people trying to make themselves better in the health, wellness, strength and conditioning.
BREAKAWAY is a place that anyone can go and feel comfortable!

Meet Our Coaches
BREAKAWAY Fitness' tailored programming train the general population and athletes with the goal to help each person individually. The general population will not only get fit, but help with chronic injuries and help with prevention of injuries in a fun and effective manner. Athletes will not only jump higher, run faster, extend range of motion and flexibility they will increase over all body awareness and ultimate mental strength. Head coach, Jeff Teach is a gifted mentor known for his attention to detail on proper technique. Techniques all major colligate athletic programs expect to see.
Make sure your technique is up to scratch with our Olympic caliber coaches.

Jeff Teach
Co-Founder-Head Coach
CSCS, USAW, Kettlebell, CrossFit
While at the University of Illinois Jeff was a two time ALL American in Track and Field and earned four Big Ten Championships as a shot putter. After college he trained at the Olympic Training Center, for the 1996 Olympics. Jeff made it to the trials, but a shoulder injury prevented him from making the team. Since then he directed his career towards Personal Training as a strength and conditioning coach at George Mason University with a major focus on injury prevention and recovery.
Still very competitive he cycles as a Category 3 road racer, and NORBA Sport Level/Clydesdale Mountain Bike Racer. He has run the Marine Corps Marathon 3:05 and Boston Marathon 3:16.
He is known as a silent but scary trainer. NEVER make the mistake of telling Jeff a workout was easy.
On his days off you’ll find him with Christa and their son Gordon and twin girls Eleni & Zephera. He loves camping or looking for serenity in a fly-fishing rod.

Christa Dalakis
Co-Founder-CEO
ACE
Christa was a two sport division I scholarship athlete in Women’s Fast-pitch Softball and Women’s Volleyball at George Mason University. After graduating she played with the Connecticut Brakettes, a semi-pro team.
In August 2002 Christa made the Greek National Softball Team which won GOLD at the 2003 European Championships B-Pool. In 2004 she was selected to be an alternate and assistant coach for the team at the OLYMPIC SUMMER GAMES in Athens, Greece. In 2005 she helped the team win an A Pool Silver at the European Championships.
In the gym Christa is known for her sarcasm and her ability to ‘Christa’ people. To be Christa’d is to suddenly find yourself doing something you had no intention of doing. Not a bad trick for a trainer!
Christa enjoys spending her time off with Jeff and their son Gordon and twin girls Eleni & Zephera. She loves anything to do with being out doors.
